Ok so I need help with this. My pregnant wife and I were stranded on the side of I20 after the upper radiator hose split open and sprayed hot steam all over the place. I had to keep the engine going for about 7 minutes to get out of traffic. After turning off the truck to cool a bit, I started it again and we drove until the temperature gauge told us it was too hot. Shut down and repeat about 4 times before we finally had to call the old man to tow us home.
After replacing the upper radiator hose I filled the radiator back to normal and let the engine run for about 3 minutes at 1,500 RPM. When I let my foot off the gas the rpm’s fell and the engine shut itself off.
Before replacing the hose the engine oil was not that milky color, but it is now. I checked the spark plugs and it has a faint coolant smell.
I need help with this. Not only do we have a baby that will be here very soon, but we are on a VERY tight budget. So if I cant give it a go on fixing the engine we have to sell it and have no mode of transportation. On a side note, how much would this truck be worth as is?
